Mt. Vernon Downtown Flood Protection 2014 - Current
Relevant to Scope: State and Federally Funded, PS&E documents for linear flood resistant transportation/ infrastructure project
Project Description: Vector has been part of this project from both a PS&E. and construction management perspective. The project is a 1.7 mile long flood-wall with parking lots, Low Impact Design (LID) storm water systems, road and pedestrian improvements combined with landscape architectural elements. The project lead design engineer is Pacific International Engineering (PIE), and Vector Engineering provided PS&E for all structural components and parking lots, sidewalks, intersection improvement and all LID stormwater systems in Phase 2. This included utility work and tie-in to existing paving and buildings. Phase 1 of the project is complete and Phase 2 is currently under construction, Phase 3 design started in March. Our work on Phase 2 of this project earned recognition as an “Outstanding Example of Excellence in Concrete Construction” by Washington Aggregates and Concrete Association.

Port Blakely – 95’ Cispus River Bridge 2011
Relevant Scope: PS&E documents transportation infrastructure
Project Description: Vector Engineering performed PS&E. and construction management for a 95’ privately owned bridge.

The project was performed (Design/Build) with Arriba Construction.

Our affiliation with Arriba allowed us to use an iterative process to design a bridge that met the loading and budget requirements of the owner.

Collaboration during preliminary design allowed us to track construction costs in real-time.

Sail and Wa’atch River Bridges, Makah Reservation 2010

Relevant to Scope: Federally funded project, roadway and bridges, PS&E documents
Project Description: Vector performed PS&E. (civil and structural) for two bridges on the Makah Tribal Reservation.

VEI has performed all roadway and bridge design work for these projects. This included road and embankments, sight distance improvements and review, pedestrian and bike access and stormwater controls. The bridges are installed and functional. VEI also provided construction management services as a sub consultant for Parametrix of Puyallup, WA.

Sylvan Way Meadows Residential Development 2008
Relevant to Scope: Sidewalk and roadway project designed for aesthetic entrance to development, PS&E documents
Project Description: This is a new development constructed in Bremerton Washington. At the time of construction it was the first residential development to be built utilizing complete LID techniques for the road and sidewalks in Washington State. Vector performed all roadway, storm, utility and structural design functions (PS&E). We also provided all permitting and construction management of the project.

Miekler Road Bridge Replacement 2005 - 2007
Relevant to Scope: Bridge and Roadway design
Project Description: Replacement design for an existing timber bridge over Hill Creek on Miekler Road, approximately 6 miles NW of Castle Rock, WA was completed in 2006. The completed PS&E is for a 75’ long pretensioned, prestressed voided slab bridge built on new pile cap substructure. The voided slab was used to achieve the required clearance over the high water mark. Approximately 300’ of approach roadway design was also developed. The construction was completed in Spring 2007.

Cougar Smith Road Realignment and Bridge Replacement 2005
Relevant to Scope: Bridge and Roadway design
Project Description: PS&E for 2500’ of new roadway alignment and 210’ single span bridge replacement project over Middle Satsop River near Matlock was prepared. The scope of work for this project included preliminary design, hydraulic analysis, biological assessment, wetland mitigation and permitting, stormwater design, section 106, geotechnical exploration, constructability evaluation, TS&L layout, final bridge and roadway PS&E design, and construction services. The bridge was built in stages using a unique post-tensioning system for PC super girders and temporary river supports. The realigned roadway used an existing logging railroad corridor and the existing bridge served as a detour during construction. This project was chosen by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Washington State Department of Transportation as the “Best County Project” of local agency transportation projects funded by FHWA in 2007.

 

Elma High School Emergency Structural Repairs
Vector provided analysis, drawings and plans for the structural repairs to Elma High School after a vehicle collided with the northwest corner of the school. We worked diligently with the school board, City of Elma building official, Insurance Company and Contractors to ensure that all phases of the repair work met the strict timeline for completion.

We provided the immediate safety and exclusion area controls the day of the accident.

Simpson Timber Co Mill 3 Explosion
When the south end of Simpson Mill 3 in Shelton exploded due to an electrical issue, Vector was on site within hours and spent the next month on site directing temporary safety controls and following along with a full design and retrofit of the area. We worked hand in hand with the owner, City of Shelton (Building Official) and insurance company. We were able to get the Mill back up and running within 8 days and then followed on to complete a full renovation of the affected area over the next few years.
